Hundreds attend wake of pregnant woman who was killed in Yonkers
(11/23/03) GRAND CONCOURSE, THE BRONX - A pregnant woman who was struck and killed by a car in Yonkers on Wednesday was remembered Sunday night. Hundreds of people from Yonkers made a pilgrimage to the Bronx for Brigida Flores' wake at a funeral home on the Grand Concourse near East 192nd Street.
Both Flores and her unborn child died on a Riverdale Avenue, just steps away from her husband's restaurant. She was returning to the restaurant after delivering a pizza. Flores, 33, was six months pregnant when a car apparently hit and killed her. Police have questioned but not charged Alexon Montalvo, the 17-year-old driver of the car that allegedly hit Flores. Her family is currently pleading with police to find answers as to what exactly caused Flores' death.
The family will send her body to Mexico for burial on Monday. Anyone who would like to help Flores' family can call (914) 424-9775 or send donations to:Reina Soriano249 Valentine LaneYonkers, NY 10705
