Westchester residents line the streets at this year's Thanksgiving Day Parade
Thousands of people lined the streets for the 77th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. The annual balloon-filled romp through Manhattan stepped off Thursday morning with an enormous turkey, a frog, a big bird and a fat, lazy cat. Spectators got a glimpse of the floats, as well as marching bands, the world-famous Rockettes, celebrities and dozens of balloons, including giant caricatures of Mr. Monopoly and children's favorite Pikachu, the bright yellow Pokemon character. The parade was led by Jake the helium stuffed turkey, who hasn't shown his feathers since 1959. Other old-time favorites included vintage balloons that starred in the parade in the 1930s, '40s and '50s, such as the Marx Brothers. Sesame Street's Grover, in his "Super Grover" persona and Garfield the Cat also made an appearance. And of course Santa Claus himself came to town riding in on his sleigh for the grand finale.
