Rap star DMX hosts annual Thanksgiving feast for needy in Yonkers

Rap artist DMX remembers his roots by helping the less fortunate in Yonkers.

He's known to his family as Earl Simmons, but to the public Simmons is known as rap star DMX. Each year, the Yonkers native hosts a holiday dinner for the less fortunate.

The event took place at the Nepperhan Community Center, where pictures of the star lined the walls. Not only does DMX provide the food, but he also supplies the entertainment. One part of the fun included DMX playing trivia games with the kids and handing out prizes.

The executive director at the center says everyone looks forward to the event each year. She says the event is in its fifth year.

Also in Yonkers, volunteers from the Sharing Community Soup Kitchen handed out more than 400 meals on Thanksgiving. Click here to view more on that story.
