Conjoined filipino twins return to Blythedale Hospital after second surgery

The twins underwent their second surgery Monday and are now back in Westchester.

Carl and Clarence Aguirre, the 18-month-old twins who are joined at the top of their heads, are in the process of undergoing a lengthy separation surgery. During the second surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, doctors separated key veins and blood vessels. They also inserted tissue expanders.

A spokesperson for Montefiore says the twins are doing well and that both have been very active and mobile since the surgery.

After each surgery the twins come back to Blythedale to undergo rehab and prepare for the next surgery.
