New Rochelle mom killed while helping son move into new home in Mahopac

(12/01/03) MAHOPAC - A New Rochelle woman is dead after a tragic weekend accident that happened while helping her son and daughter-in-law move to a house in Mahopac.

On Saturday, 64-year-old Rosalia Moreno was killed when a rental truck started a chain reaction. Police say the truck slipped its brake, rolled down a hill and hit a van. The van then crashed into the house on Rockledge Road and pinned Moreno against a wall.

Carmel police say the truck driver grabbed the rolling truck and tried to jump in while it was moving but he could not stop it in time. The house was damaged and rendered uninhabitable by the town building inspector.
