A special delivery on I-287 in Greenburgh

A Peekskill woman in labor on her way to the hospital on Wednesday began giving birth in her car. It happened around 12 p.m. along I-287 in Greenburgh.

Her husband ran into the nearby Amoco Gas Station and found New York State Department of Transportation HELP truck operators Diego Ramirez and Willie Brown.

Ramirez said both himself and Brown ran over to the car and saw the woman giving birth in the back seat of the car. Ramirez and Brown called for emergency personnel and comforted the woman until paramedics responded. Officials say the woman delivered a healthy baby boy inside the car with no complications.

Both mother and baby were taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla and are doing fine.
