Two firefighters recovering after being injured battling Mount Vernon blaze
Two Mount Vernon firefighters are recovering Thursday after battling a house fire.
The fire heavily damaged a home at 35 South 14th Ave. just after 5 p.m. Wednesday. Mount Vernon firefighters from several fire houses responded to the scene.
Firefighters took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control. Two of the firefighters were taken to Mount Vernon Hospital, possibly suffering from chemical stinging to the eyes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
