Westchester Medical Center to lay off an unspecified amount of employees

Budget problems could result in the layoffs of an unspecified number of employees at the Westchester Medical Center.

Employees were told Thursday the layoffs are likely to take place in the next two weeks. They were also told if they lose their jobs, they will get 30 days notice.

A spokesperson for the medical center says they need to reduce more than $16 million in salaries and benefits.

The medical center has about 4,000 employees.
