Parishioners gather in Larchmont to say farewell to a well-liked monsignor
Funeral services were held Tuesday for Monsingnor Lamont Hamilton. Hamilton, 50, died last week of a heart attack. He was an associate pastor at St. John and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Larchmont.
Parishioners, family and friends, and church leaders all gathered to say goodbye to the well-liked monsignor. Cardinal Edward Egan asked everyone to remember a man who gave so much. Parishioners say they will miss him and had nothing but kind words to say about him.
Monsignor Hamilton accomplished a lot during his priesthood. In November of 1999, Pope John Paul II named Hamilton a prelate of honor. The monsignor was born and raised in Manhattan and devoted his life to the people of New York.
