Former Ossining H.S. basketball star and his mom suing school district

A former Ossining H.S. basketball star and his mother are suing the school district.

Rahssan Simmons and his mom filed a lawsuit claiming the Ossining School District failed to keep him from being sexually molested by a high school secretary. Simmons claims he had an affair with 30-year-old secretary Felicita DeJesus. At the time the alleged affair began, Simmons was just 15 years old. He says what happened kept him from becoming a college star. Simmons' lawyer says his client was approached by dozens of colleges.

At the federal courthouse in White Plains Tuesday, the school's principal testified that the district initially concluded that an anonymous tip about the affair was untrue. Simmons' lawyer says the principal disregarded statements by his own staff concerning what they knew.

School district officials and their lawyers declined to comment on the case during the trial, which is expected to last several weeks.
