Case of tuberculosis confirmed at an Ossining elementary school

Health department officials confirm that a person at an Ossining school has tuberculosis.

Some 50 to 60 students and staff members at the Claremont Elementary School are now being tested after being exposed to the potentially deadly lung disease. Health officials sent a letter to everyone who may have shared a room with that person telling them to be tested.

Westchester Health Department officials are not releasing information on whether it was a student or a staff member who came down with tuberculosis. They say the risk of students or staff becoming infected is low.
