Police bust crime ring targeting stolen auto parts in Tuckahoe

Police in Tuckahoe say they have busted a large crime ring Tuesday that dealt in stolen auto parts from high-end cars.

According to investigators, they received a tip about a vehicle containing thousands of dollars worth of stolen car parts, mostly expensive xenon headlights and hubcaps. Police then arrested Raoul Mateo and Alfredo Tejada Almonde, both of the Bronx and Heriheito Munoz, of Pennslvannia. Police believe the stolen parts would be sold at chop shops in the city.

Investigators say the theft of the auto parts from high-end cars continue to be a big problem throughout Westchester and for insurance companies. They say the headlights and hubcaps don?t contain serial numbers, which makes them impossible to trace.
