Toll hike on New York State Thruway has some Westchester drivers seeing red
The cost of living in Westchester has climbed even higher for motorists after a toll hike went into effect Sunday along the New York State Thruway. Most drivers can expect to pay 25 percent more to drive on the 641-mile highway. Add that to the rising cost of gas, and its no surprise many drivers are seeing red. Officials expect gas prices to remain high because of high crude oil prices and a weak U.S. dollar. This is the first rate hike on the thruway in 17 years. The money from the increased tolls will help fund a $2.6 billion construction program.
