Water main break in Thornwood leaves residents high and dry

A water main break in Thornwood left 300 residents high and dry Tuesday.

Officials say the aging water pipe gave way Monday night on Nannyhagen Road. A resident discovered the break and contacted authorities. Crews worked through the night to try to restore water to the area. Residents either had unusable water or low water pressure Tuesday morning.

Workers replaced a five-foot long piece of pipe and conducted tests. Water was expected to be restored by the afternoon.
