Cops say two arrested in White Plains with 18 pounds of pot

(05/20/05) HAWTHORNE ? White Plains and Westchester County police officials say they caught two people with 18 pounds of marijuana outside a store in White Plains Friday.

Investigators say they began watching a man and woman in a section of White Plains after receiving a phone tip. According to police, the female entered the back of a store and later emerged with two brown boxes. Police say at this point they moved in, arrested both individuals and discovered the drugs inside the boxes.

The two suspects in police custody have been identified as 28-year-old Nekema Parker, the female who cops say actually picked up the drugs, and 28-year-old Winston Scarlett. Both individuals are from Queens. Detectives say the street value of the marijuana ranges from $40,000 to $60,000.
