New Rochelle elementary school locked down
A New Rochelle elementary school was locked down Thursday after two suspicious men were spotted in nearby woods.
School officials say children playing at recess at the William B. Ward Elementary School reported seeing two strangers at the rear of the school. The children told a school monitor and all the kids were brought inside the school. The school was locked down as a precaution and the police were called.
Police searched the school yard and surrounding area but found no one. School officials lifted the lockdown around 1:30 p.m. Children were sent home with letters for the parents describing the incident and urging them to talk to their kids about safety measures.
