Westchester residents gear up for the unofficial start of summer

Westchester residents are gearing up for the Memorial Day weekend, which marks the unofficial start of summer.

Many residents plan on traveling for the weekend and traffic is expected to be a problem. With gas prices so high a White Plains gas station, which has the cheapest gas in the county, is experiencing long lines for fill-ups.

Metro-North officials say they are running 13 extra trains Friday to accommodate the increase in commuters. Local airports are reporting high volume as well. Officials say to expect delays since baggage screeners will be checking bags closely.
