Holiday barbeque erupts in gunfire in Cortlandt

Police say a holiday barbeque erupted in gunfire Friday night in Cortlandt.

According to authorities, after an altercation broke out at a barbeque, 22-year-old Richard DeVitt fired a shot at someone involved in the fight. Police say the 25-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and drove himself to Westchester Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.

Police say DeVitt turned himself in to Cortlandt police Saturday. He is being charged with attempted murder.
