Group of women from Afghanistan get a taste of freedom in Irvington

Pride and patriotism filled the streets of Irvington Monday. This year?s Memorial Day ceremony, however, took on special meaning for a group of women from Afghanistan. The women came to the United States through the organization Woman For Afghan Women. Under the Taliban they sewed and knitted in secrecy, now they can hone their skills to become entrepreneurs. The women will now be able to earn money and get an education for their children. They will also be able to provide opportunities they would have never have had before.
