No jail time for Eastchester nanny charged with leaving baby home alone

The Eastchester nanny charged with leaving a baby in her care home alone was sentenced to three years probation Wednesday.

Victoria Braithwaite was arrested in December for leaving a 16-month-old baby home alone while she went shopping. Braithwaite, who is from Yonkers, pleaded guilty to one count of child endangerment.

The judge said he felt Braithwaite did not appreciate the seriousness of her actions and also sentenced her to 75 hours of community service. However, Braithwaite?s lawyer says his client recognized that she showed poor judgment.

The child?s family still has an order of protection against Braithwaite and says they hope she never works in child care again.
