Yonkers residents shocked former neighbor is linked to terrorism

Residents in Yonkers are shocked after learning that one of their neighbors has been arrested for backing terrorism and pledging his allegiance to Osama bin Laden.

Tarik Shah lived on Oak Street in Yonkers until two months ago, when he moved to the Bronx. According to federal agents, Shah and his accomplice, Dr. Rafiq Abdus Sabir, of Florida, were looking to train al-Qaida followers in hand-to-hand combat and possibly set up a machine shop to manufacture weapons. Shah was originally linked to terrorist activity after a routine police stop in Yonkers in 2003.

Neighbors on Oak Street say Shah was considerate and respected other people?s religions. They say Shah told them police arrested him two years ago because he was Muslim but the accusations were not true. Now residents are wondering what the truth really is.
