Vandals hit another Westchester military monument

Police say vandals defaced a military monument in Michael Mangero Park in Cortlandt.

According to authorities, anti-war messages were spray painted Tuesday on a large star dedicated to graduates of Walter Panas High School serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The school project was erected last Memorial Day.

Those who work to maintain the monument were devastated by the large peace sign defacing the soldiers? names. The Cortlandt supervisor says the vandalism is under investigation and the town will pay for the cleanup of the monument.

Another incident of vandalism occurred in Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park over the weekend.
