Yonkers car dealership shut down by the state for unpaid sales tax

A popular car dealership in Yonkers was shut down by the state Tuesday and the Cadillacs and Oldsmobiles were seized.

According to investigators, the dealership?s owner, Dick Gidron, never paid the state more than $800,000 in sales tax he collected from customers. Gidron was already on probation for a previous tax evasion conviction when state agents seized his dealership on Central Park Avenue. State agents say in total, Gidron has outstanding tax warrants for more than $12 million in connection with failure to pay taxes from several other businesses he owned.

Many customers say they are worried the cars they have there for repairs may get hauled off with the other cars getting seized. No charges have been filed yet against Gidron.
