Funeral services held for murdered Croton Falls teenager

Nearly 700 people gathered for a tearful farewell at the funeral of a Croton Falls teenager who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend.

Many friends of 17-year-old Elizabeth Butler had never attended a funeral before and found the experience heart wrenching. A family friend said it is so tragic when a young person dies, especially in such a violent manner.

Butler?s ex-boyfriend, Ariel Menendez was arraigned on second-degree murder charges in her death. Police say Menendez strangled and stabbed Butler on Sunday. Butler?s parents discovered her body in their car after she failed to show up at work. Menendez is being held at Westchester County Jail.
