High-speed police chase ends with crash on Bear Mountain Parkway in Cortlandt

(06/09/05) CORTLANDT ? A high-speed police chase Thursday sent one man to the hospital and resulted in the closure of the Bear Mountain Parkway.

According to police, the entire incident began when they received reports of a stolen vehicle in Peekskill. Investigators say during the chase, the stolen car switched from the eastbound lane to the westbound lane on the Bear Mountain Parkway. The vehicle then hit an embankment and flipped several times, ejecting the driver from the car.

The 23-year-old victim, whose identity is being withheld by police, was airlifted to Westchester County Medical Center. Sources tell News 12 Westchester he is listed in serious condition.
