Police take part in disaster drill at Westchester County Airport

Police from around Westchester County took part in a simulated plane crash drill at Westchester County Airport in Harrison Saturday.

Officials say the drill is a great way to test the response team. More than 100 police officers and 50 police units were graded based on their performance. Police say in the event of an actual plane crash, other units such as the State Police Department, MTA and Department of Environmental Protection would also respond.

Two months ago some of the officers responded to a deadly plane crash just north of the airport. Both the pilot and the passenger of the single engine Cessna were killed after trying to land in the rain and fog.
