New Rochelle woman being called a hero for saving neighbor?s life

A woman in New Rochelle is being called a hero Monday after saving her neighbor from a burning home. The flames broke out at 29 Inwood Place, the home of Janet Salvatore. Neighbor Brandy Lee was hanging laundry when she smelled smoke. Salvatore was home alone when she heard Lee say there were flames coming from the basement. Both women quickly ran for safety and called 911.Salvatore and her family say they feel thankful because if it wasn't for a concerned neighbor, they might have lost a lot more than property. Twenty firefighters battled the blaze and were able to contain the fire to the basement. They say a surge protector is to blame.
