Yonkers School Board appoints interim superintendent

The Yonkers School Board met Wednesday night and appointed a new interim superintendent.

The board started out by accepting the resignations of former Yonkers School Superintendent Angelo Petrone and the district?s Finance Director Frank Lutz. Both Petrone and Lutz were indicted by a grand jury on perjury charges. Petrone also faces a tampering with public records charge.

The board then announced the appointment of Deputy Superintendent Bernard Pierorazio as the interim superintendent. Pierorazio got the rousing support of the crowd. He said the first goal is to return to normalcy and then get ready to plan for the next school year.
