Funeral in Valhalla to rebury final remains of 9/11 victim

A funeral service was held Saturday in Valhalla to rebury the remains of a local victim of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center.

Simon Marash Dedvukaj, 26, worked on the 95th floor as a maintenance supervisor for the World Trade Center. Some of his remains were unearthed and buried in 2002. Then Dedvukaj?s family received a call telling them his DNA matched some more remains that were found.

Close to 150 family members and friends gathered Saturday at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery for a tearful ceremony. Prayers and words of comfort were expressed in English and Albanian, Dedvukaj?s native language. A monument above his plot was unveiled to commemorate his life.
