Man accused of stealing plane while drunk lands at Westchester County Airport
Police say a man who was drunk stole a plane from a Connecticut airport and eventually landed at Westchester County Airport Wednesday.
According to officials, 20-year-old Philippe Patricio flew the Cessna Skyhawk for at least two hours over Westchester County Airport air space. Police and operations personnel at the airport noticed the plane flying low and erratically. Airport officials say Patricio was running out of fuel and landed in an area reserved for planes taxiing on the runway. Police say Patricio had two 16-year-old boys on board, was drunk and resisted arrest.
Police say Patricio has only seven hours of flying experience as a student pilot. Police have charged him with criminal possession of stolen property, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and DWI.
