Black bear causes commotion in Harrison

A black bear wandering around in Harrison caused a big commotion Friday.

Police and animal control were called to Purchase Street near Anderson Hill Road after the bear was seen. They cornered the bear up a tree where they played a waiting game on the ground. Some of the roads had to be closed and traffic was rerouted. Harrison police say bear sightings in the area are rare.

Animal control tranquilized the bear and took it to the Catskills where it was released into the wild.
