State, county officials take part in groundbreaking at Dobbs Ferry nursing home

State and county officials joined together Wednesday to help break ground for a $55 million renovation at the Saint Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry.

Officials at the nursing home say they hope to begin construction in July on a project that will increase the square footage by 55 percent. Plans are underway to triple the number of private rooms and make double rooms larger. It?s part of an effort to improve the quality of life for current residents and those to come.

Residents at the nursing home say they are pleased the expansion is beginning. Officials say construction should take about 29 months to complete. Financing for the project will come from state health care reimbursements and tax-exempt bonds.
