Greenburgh residents miffed by frequent Saw Mill River flooding

(06/29/05) GREENBURGH ? Many residents in Greenburgh spent a good part of Wednesday afternoon pumping water out of their homes during heavy rainfall.

Residents in the town say flooding has become all too common when rains force the Saw Mill River to overflow. Those living in Greenburgh say town officials have not done enough to prevent the frequent flooding. According to residents, an earlier solution to raise homes higher off the ground has proved ineffective against protecting cars and other items from water damage.

Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner could not be reached for comment. Wednesday?s torrential rains also backed up roadways and disrupted mass transportation service.
