Flooding causes traffic nightmare for commuters on Saw Mill River Parkway

Flooding has caused a traffic nightmare for commuters taking the Saw Mill River Parkway Thursday.

With the heavy rains that hit many areas of Westchester Wednesday night, parts of the Saw Mill River Parkway became impassable. Department of Transportation trucks blocked the road in Hastings and forced commuters off the parkway and back on again.

Even as the flood waters started to recede, a deep pocket of water further north near Lawrence Street backed up traffic for miles. However, many motorists managed to keep their sense of humor through the inconvenience, saying they should have opted for a boat instead of a car.
