Mount Kisco man bitten by raccoon receives rabies shots as precaution

A Mount Kisco man, who was bitten by a raccoon Sunday, is taking all the necessary precautions by getting rabies shots.

Fred Lina says the raccoon attacked him at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. According to Lina, the animal grabbed him in the back of his leg and then bit him on his hands.

Officials do not know if the raccoon was rabid. The doctor that treated Lina says most skunks, raccoons and bats are considered rabid unless proven otherwise. Health officials say since Lina was given rabies shots after the attack, he should be okay.

Meanwhile, the cemetery has posted a notice about the raccoon.
