Family, friends gather for wake services of man fatally shot at Greenburgh deli

Family and friends gathered Thursday for the wake services of the man fatally shot at a Greenburgh deli.

Police say 53-year-old Angel Carera was killed during an apparent robbery at Cibao Grocery and Deli on Tarrytown Road Sunday. Family members say Carera had returned to work after flying back from the Dominican Republic to visit his wife. Carera?s friends say he was a special person who will be missed by all in Greenburgh.

Deli owner 42-year-old Pedro Pena and his brother, 48-year-old Jose Pena, were also shot after coming to Carera?s aid. Both remain at Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.

Carera?s body is scheduled to be flown back to his native Dominican Republic for burial. Police are still looking for the person responsible for the shootings.
