Search is on for Westchester man feared dead after swim in Yorktown lake

The search is on for a Peekskill man who jumped out of a boat for a swim in a Yorktown lake and is now feared drowned.

It happened Sunday around 6 p.m. at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown. Police say 20-year-old Jose Tenesaca was in a paddleboat when he took off his life jacket and went for a swim in Mohansic Lake. Witnesses say Tenesaca swam a good distance from the boat when he began to struggle. Police say lifeguards from a public pool across the lake also jumped into a boat and raced to the scene, but Tenesaca had already disappeared.

There are signs around the lake that read "no swimming" and there are no lifeguards on duty in that section of the lake.
