Family of Peekskill man missing in lake holds vigil in Yorktown park

The family of a Peekskill man police fear drowned in FDR State Park in Yorktown held vigil by the lake Tuesday.

Rescue teams and divers spent their third day underwater searching Mohansic Lake for 20-year-old Jose Tenesaca, who police believe drowned Sunday evening. Witnesses reported Tenesaca jumped off his rented paddleboat without his life jacket. He apparently began to struggle and disappeared under the water before anyone could reach him.

Divers searched the lake since Sunday with no results. Officials say the water is 30 to 40 feet deep in some areas and going to that depth takes a lot out of the divers. Meanwhile, relatives of Tenesaca are still hoping the body will be recovered soon.
