State police take up search for man presumed drowned in Yorktown lake

The State Police Department took up the search for a Peekskill man presumed drowned in FDR State Park in Yorktown Wednesday.

Nine troopers trained in underwater search and recovery systematically looked for the body of 20-year-old Jose Tenesaca. Police say Tenesaca apparently drowned while swimming Sunday despite a rescue attempt by his brother-in-law. Family members have been holding a vigil by the lake shore all week.

Divers from local fire departments have also been involved in the search effort. However, all divers are limited in the number of hours they can spend underwater, making the search extremely slow. The lake will remain closed to boating until Tenesaca?s body is found.
