Off-duty police officer opens fire during scuffle in Eastchester

Investigators say an off-duty police officer opened fire during a scuffle in Eastchester Wednesday night.

Eastchester police say an altercation occurred at the corner of Montgomery Avenue and Dunwoodie Street. At some point during the fight, a single shot was fired by an off-duty police officer. Investigators say no one was hit by the shot, but everyone fled the scene.

Authorities say the officer involved was taken to the hospital and treated for mental trauma. Meanwhile, police are still searching for those involved in the altercation.
