Rockland students attacked when basketball game turns into a brawl in Greenburgh

Students from Rockland County on a field trip to play basketball in Greenburgh ended up getting involved in a turf war Thursday.

According to police, about 10 students from Edwin Gould Academy came by van to play basketball in Yosemite Park. Approximately 20 to 30 people from Westchester, ranging in age from 16-24, started arguing with the students and a racially motivated comment was made towards the Rockland teens. Police say as the students tried to flee, one was stabbed, one was slashed with a box cutter and another was struck in the head with a rock. Authorities say the back window of the van was also smashed with a chair.

Police arrested 10 people from Westchester and charged them with gang assault. The three teens from Rockland were treated for their injuries at a local hospital.
