New Rochelle community outraged after police say young girl raped

A New Rochelle community is outraged after police say an 8-year-old girl was raped by a 26-year-old man.

Police say Ahkim Blount knocked on a door in the apartment complex on Winthrop Avenue Wednesday posing as a maintenance man. Investigators say he made his way into an apartment and raped the young girl. The girl identified her attacker from some photos.

Authorities say Blount lived on Main Street in New Rochelle. He is facing first-degree rape charges. Blount is being held at the Westchester County Jail on $500,000 bail.
