Residents rally in Yonkers against Bush?s nominee for Supreme Court

Residents rallied Wednesday in Getty Square in Yonkers to protest President Bush?s nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court.

Many local Democrats fear another conservative judge, like John Roberts, could topple a number of hot button issues. Those in attendance got people to sign petitions urging New York senators to slow down the appointment process. Some believe Roberts? age poses a problem, since at 50, his tenure on the Supreme Court would be long.

However, some are in favor of the president?s choice. Former Westchester and New York GOP chairman Anthony Colavita says Roberts is a person who will interpret the law, not make the law.
