New law will change age limit on Jet Ski riders across New York State

A new bill signed into law by Governor George Pataki (R-NY) will change the age limit on Jet Ski riders in Westchester and Hudson Valley, as well as across New York State.

The new law that will take effect on January 1 will raise the minimum age for riding a jet ski solo from 10 to 14 years old. Many residents say raising the age limit is a great idea because Jet Skis can reach speeds of 60 miles per hour.

In addition to raising the age limit, the new law will also require people between the ages of 14 and 18 to obtain boating safety certificates.
