Three families left homeless after fire rips through New Rochelle house

Three families are left homeless after a fire ripped through a New Rochelle house Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on Union Street at about 1 p.m. Fire officials say fighting the flames was made more difficult because of the hot and humid weather. Pelham and Mount Vernon firefighters were called in to assist. Fire officials say no one was injured in the blaze they believe was sparked by electrical problems.

The Red Cross is supplying food, clothing and shelter to the families displaced by the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
