Mount Vernon man shot and killed in his car

Police say a Mount Vernon man was fatally shot in his car Tuesday night.

Authorities say 25-year-old Omar Campbell was found hanging out of his car on South Seventh Avenue with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was only blocks from his home. Attempts by police and ambulance workers to save his life failed, and he died about an hour later at the hospital.

Campbell, a Jamaica National, was married less than two weeks ago and was trying to earn a living for his family. Mount Vernon police have no suspects and no known motive for the killing.
