Two powerful, high profile women from Westchester headed for political showdown

Two strong, independent women from Westchester are running for U.S. Senate.

Republican Westchester District Attorney Jeanine Pirro confirmed that she will seek the U.S. Senate office, challenging Democrat incumbent Hillary Clinton. Political analysts say there are many similarities between the two candidates. Both are high profile women who live in Westchester, Pirro in Harrison and Clinton in Chappaqua.

Analysts also say both women have husbands who might be characterized as political liabilities. Al Pirro did time in a federal prison on tax evasion charges and President Bill Clinton was impeached for lying about an affair with a White House intern.

Pirro must first win the GOP nomination for the race against former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer and Edward Cox, son-in-law of the late President Richard Nixon.
