Mother of Yonkers boys scalded to death may have had other children

The mother of the two Yonkers boys that were scalded to death may have had other children.

Sources say Luz Arroyo, 25, had three other children before Elijah Santana and David Maldonado were born. The sources say two of the children were adopted by grandparents, but the fate of the third is unknown.

Arroyo and David Maldonado, the father of one of the boys, were charged in the children?s scalding deaths. The couple is accused of being high on drugs and leaving the boys in a bathtub with hot water.

Meanwhile, last week, authorities found that the family?s caseworker had not visited the home for two months. That caseworker has since been fired from the Department of Social Services.

Both Arroyo and Maldonado remain behind bars. Arroyo is facing charges of negligent homicide, and Maldonado faces two counts of second-degree manslaughter.
