Water main break closes Main Street in Irvington

A water main break in Irvington shut down a portion of Main Street Thursday.

Officials say several thousand gallons of water spilled onto the road after the eight inch water main broke around 3:45 a.m. Police were patrolling the area and quickly shut off the water and redirected traffic.

Approximately 10 homes in the area lost water. Department of Public Works crews are working to remedy the problem. Until then, Main Street from Croton Place to Broadway will remain closed.
