Briarcliff Manor rabbi busted on marijuana possession

A rabbi in Briarcliff Manor was arraigned Wednesday night on charges of possessing marijuana and driving while ability impaired.

State police say they found at least 25 grams of marijuana in his vehicle when they pulled over Rabbi Steven Kane in Putnam County on August 1. The 50-year-old rabbi is the spiritual leader of Congregation Sons of Israel. The synagogue?s president says he is surprised at the allegations but wouldn?t say if the rabbi would deliver services over the weekend.

Rabbi Kane did not enter a plea during his arraignment. He is due back in court on September 14.
